We hope to see you at Granada Theater on New Year’s Eve for Jonathan Tyler & The Northern Lights, Somebody’s Darling and Larry Gee. If you are planning on coming down to Lower Greenville to ring in the New Year with us, there are a number of safest ways to make sure you stay safe on New Year’s Eve!
1- Ride the DART Rail with Friends until 2:30am!
You might annoy everyone else on the train with your loud talking and dancing but at least you won’t be driving on the road. Hey! You might even make some new friends.
DART Rail Schedules for Friday, December 31, 2010:
• Red Line to Parker Road Station
• Red Line to Westmoreland Station
• Blue Line to Downtown Garland Station
• Blue Line to Ledbetter Station
• Green Line To North Carrollton/Frankford Station
• Green Line to Buckner Station
DART Rail Schedules for Saturday, January 1, 2011:

2 – Ride your Bike!
We are installing new bike racks in the front of Granada, courtesy of Oak Cliff Bicycle Company. The first one is up right now! If you’re riding at night don’t forget to wear a helmet and have good lights on your bike.
3 – Take a Cab or Private Car
Well, it’s better than having your parents drive you even if it costs a little bit more. The benefit of a private car is you know they’ll be ready to go when you are and won’t judge you when you fall asleep in the back seat. If you’re taking a cab make sure it is a reputable company and ask them BEFORE you leave if they accept credit cards.
4 – Assign a Designated Driver
Or make friends with someone Straight Edge pretty quickly! If you have one responsible friend who can have a good time without consuming their weight in alcohol then talk to them about being the Designated Driver for the group. Make sure to let them know how much you appreciate it by baking them a cake, buying them a mansion or walking their dog.
5 – Walk from Your House
Don’t be lazy. If you live within a couple miles of your destination it should take you less than 10 minutes to walk there. How nice would it be to not worry about driving your car? Just don’t get into the car with anyone else who’s had one too many.
6 – Travel in a Group
Make sure you’re going out with a group, or at least a buddy who can keep an eye on you and be there for you if you need them.
7 – Bring a pair of Back Up Shoes
Yes, yes those new stilettos are simply fabulous! But you’re going to be on your feet all night and you might want to bring a pair of back up sneakers for that walk back to the car or after party at the house. Keep yourself, your feet and your boyfriend safe!
8 – Charge your Cell Phone
Do we even have to explain why it’s important to keep your cell phone charged? Do it!
9 – Bring Cash
Not everyone is going to take plastic money. Money talks and if you don’t have it you might be walking around all night looking for an ATM. It’s always good to bring some extra cash and tuck it somewhere out of your purse/wallet just in case you lose your stuff.
10 – Have a Plan
Pick somewhere to be and stick to it. No wants to be driving around at 12am when you’re supposed to be under a confetti drop smooching your special someone. Hope to see you at Granada Theater on New Years Eve and stay safe!!
