Our friends at D Magazine are putting on their second FrontRow Live show later this month with Portland indie-electronic band Starfucker a.k.a  STRFKR  a.k.a PYRAMID a.k.a DJ Low Down Lorretta Brown… and so on

When Starfucker shortened their name,  STRFKR joined a cohort of  artists with only consonants at their names, including SBTRKT, MSTRKRFT, early MGMT, CFCF and KMFDM. Whatever name they went by, fans followed their catchy, guitar-chord driven, indie pop sound. The band’s singature track “Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second” even  appeared on a Target commercial featuring Pepto Bismol a few years ago. It’s a weird message; when you think of indigestion, think of STRFKR.

STRFKR’s last Dallas visit was  a sold out show in January at the Prophet Bar with Painted Palms and Alexico. The band apparently dons lipstick and occasionally dress in drag for their live shows for the fun of it – one recurring live costume is Barbara Bush.

STRFKR, Onra and Ben Aqua play FrontRow Live at The Dallas Contemporary on Thursday May 31st.
