We loved Sleigh Bells last time around, and can hardly contain our excitement about Tuesday night. Despite Alexis’ recent battle against strep throat, we have no doubts that the band will be back in full throttle to give us what it is that Sleigh Bells does best: noise, and lots of it. Alongside the obvious killer lead, Javelin and Elite Gymnastics have been blowing our minds away.

From Minneapolis, Elite Gymnastics duo James Brooks and Josh Clancy are a prime example of the constantly developing realm of electronic music. Their band name derives from a lyric in a Whitehouse song, a fuzzy, noise-filled track that had Chris in the office wondering what the devil’s name I was watching. In the grand age of the Internet and you-can-make-anything-if-you-have-a-Macbook mindsets, Elite Gymnastics’ recent album RUIN is as carefully crafted as things go. Mixing samples in from Final Fantasy (not Owen Pallett’s but the game, though either would be fine by me) to Waka Floka Flame. And besides, Both EPs, RUIN 1 and 2 are available for download for free over at their website. You can thank us later.

Sleigh Bells won’t be the only Granada veterans playing Tuesday night. Brooklyn-based Javelin pulled through last time with Yeasayer in 2010, and in two years’ time have released another EP off Luaka Bop, remixed HEALTH, and like Elite Gymnastics, found themselves molding to the age of sampling. Heavily inspired by late producer J Dilla, the two cousins are inspired by the method of using “tiny snippets of words to communicate.” There isn’t a lot of speech that goes into Javelin’s tracks. The two combine enough sounds into each track to have listeners expecting a hosh posh of noise, however, it meshes well enough that it somehow all makes sense.

Elite Gymnastics and Javelin will both be opening for Sleigh Bells this Tuesday night. >We’re ready to rage as ever! If you didn’t snag tickets to the sold-out show, we’re holding a contest until Tuesday morning, so ENTER. So practice listening to the aforementioned bands, and we’ll see you there!
