A.Dd+ is Dionte Rembert (a.k.a. Slim Gravy) and Arrias Walls (a.k.a. Paris Pershun) and within a matter of two years since their 2010 release, When Pigs Fly, the duo have managed to take the south up by storm.
Performing regularly around Dallas, we’ve already seen them onstage opening for some pretty big names like Erykah Badu, Wu Tang Clan, and Big K.R.I.T. It’s no wonder the two have gotten national praise, being at the top of Pitchfork’s Overlooked Mixtape List and Spin’s 5 Best New Artists for May 2012.
Highlighted as disciples of all things Outkast, it’s a compliment to say the least. A.Dd+’s tracks are as infectious as they come, combinations of innovative beats, mixed in funk, and lyrics to follow, it’ll only take you seconds to realize how head-nodding will only come naturally when listening. In live settings, you’ll find your hands in the air, as the energy flows onstage between the officiated turntablist, DJ Sober (who’ll also be at GvsB II), Paris Pershun and Slim Gravy. They’ll encourage you to involve yourself, and you’ll do it unconsciously, and willingly.
The plus sign at the end of A.Dd+’s name is a signalling of the band “always adding, never subtracting,” and in the Dallas hip hop scene, Paris Pershun and Slim Gravy are setting new standards. No doubt one of Dallas’ finest, A.Dd+ could be one of Dallas’ best kept secret thus far, but probably not for long.
A.Dd+ will be performing at Gorilla vs. Bear II on Saturday, July 28th. Tickets are available to purchase online. Get there early and stay all night, it’ll be the party of the summer. #ADdHoe
