The first half of Breaking Bad season 5 comes to a close this Sunday night and to wrap it up I’m sharing the 5 biggest scenes of the season (so far). I’m a little upset that we have to wait an entire year for the big conclusion but good things come to those who wait. We will be having a watching party this Sunday night on the Sundown rooftop for the “mid-season finale” at 9pm. Stop or Todd will shoot! (Dead Freight)
Has there been a bigger gut punch this season than when Meth Damon (aka Damnit Todd) murdered the kid on the dirt bike? The entire episode was a thrill ride with the apex being when Jesse narrowly missed getting run over by the train. At the watch party everyone cheered with Jesse when he jumped up and yelled “Yeah bitch!” and only seconds gasped when Todd pulled out the gun and shot that kid. It was one of the biggest surprises of the season and led to Jesse wanting “out”.
Magnets BITCH!!! (Live Free or Die)
One of the most fascinating aspects of Breaking Bad is how Jesse & Walt’s moral codes have changed throughout the series. And while Walt becomes more and more evil, Jesse has become the hero of the show. It’s hard not to root for Jesse and the first episode of this season gave us plenty to cheer about. Jesse’s magnets plan at first seemed a little far-fetched but after a successful test run at the impound Jesse raised up his arms in victory and yelled “Magnets bitch! Yeah!!”
Most awkward family dinner EVER (Buyout)
Breaking Bad has always had an underlying tone of dark humor and there was no funnier scene this season than the family dinner with Walt, Skylar, & Jesse. Poor Jesse was awkwardly trying to make conversation while Skylar just stared daggers through Walt. This was an obvious contrast to family breakfasts earlier in the season when the White household was just a tad happier. When Skylar asks Jesse if Walt has told him about her affair, Jesse hilarious takes a huge gulp of water while nervously looking back and forth between Walt & Skylar. With all the kid killings & acid baths we need a little comedy relief!
SHUT UP x’s 13 (Madrigal)
Another big storyline this season has been Skyler’s mental breakdown while her marriage with Walt has disintegrated into nothing. She attempted to drown herself on Walt’s birthday, took her children out of her house, and famously told her husband that she was just waiting for his cancer to come back. Her most memorable moment this season has to be when she snapped at her sister Marie at the carwash. It was great because we have all been waiting for someone to tell Marie to STFU. The scene showed just how stressed out Skyler has become.
I’m sO0O0O0O sorry Mike (Say My Name)
Oh man what heartbreak. Poor Pop Pop 
Last week’s episode saw the end of Mike. Season 5 has pretty much been the season of Grandpa Mike and Jonathan Banks will probably earn an Emmy nom for his portrayal. Little by little Mike was taking half-measures with Walt and it finally caught up to him in this episode. There was a glimpse of the “old Walt” (an oh shit look on his face) after he shot Mike. Walt had always previously killed in order to protect himself or his family. This time he killed just because his ego was bruised. Walt has 100% broken bad and there is no redemption in sight. This isn’t going to end well.
