Since releasing When Pigs Fly in 2011, Paris Pershun and Slim Gravy have been meeting success left and right. A.Dd+ was featured in Pitchfork’s Underrated Rap Releases of 2011, opened for names like Erykah Badu and Wu-Tang Clan, performed at Gorilla vs Bear 2, and named Best Rap/Hip Hop Act at the Dallas Observer Music Awards in 2012. The duo simply can’t stop, and probably won’t any time soon.
A.Dd+ brings the party wherever they’re headed, whether it be Atlanta, Austin, or Houston, or right in their own backyard in Dallas. Seeing these two live, alongside officiated A.Dd+ turntablist and Dallas favorite, DJ Sober, is like partying with your best friends, if your best friends happen to be talented rappers with a cannon full of energy. Paris and Slim Gravy are comfortable, but in their own element; they initiate dance-offs and encourage all things audience participation.
While Dallas is proud to call A.Dd+ our own, they’re moreso creating their own story. A.Dd+ is attracting national attention, all whilst strengthening “a community by forcing people to pay attention.” With all the comparisons to Big Boi and Andre 3000, similarities are to be noted, yet Pershun and Slim Gravy still maintain distinctions that resonate with their drive and fervor. A.Dd+ are here for the ride, and they’re not slowing down any time soon.
Their anticipated DiveHiFlyLo mixtape Release Party will happen here on January 26th. Tickets are available to purchase here. Check “Suitcases,” a new track off DiveHiFlyLo, here. We’re ready to party. See you there.
